The Oldest Home in Miami (Coral Gables) is For Sale and Could be Yours for the New Year!

6810 Maynada St, Coral Gables - For Sale

This Historic Home in Coral Gables could be yours, the OLDEST standing residence in Miami-Dade County!

Live in history! This farm house, built over 20 years BEFORE George Merrick developed Coral Gables, has been lovingly maintained true to the original builders design, including claw-footed tub and tin ceiling!  Built in 1899, the house was the homestead to avocado and mango grower, Arthur Lang, who bought the 10 acres from Miami founder, Julia Tuttle.  Lang sold the home to the Morton Adams in 1934 who renamed the street running up to the his property line at Old Dixie Highway (US 1), Maynada Street, after their daughter, Mayna.

This lovely home has been owned by the same owners, Peter Zorn Jr and his wife Kathleen Smith Zorn for over 30 years now.  They have it decorated and furnished right out of a time more reminiscent to the Lang's and Adam's times than our own.  The home has only had four owners, the Langs, the Adams, the Zorns and the Batchelors (1971-1977).  It now is looking for its new family.  The home is a Coral Gables Historic Landmark.

What a great looking house.  111 years old and it looks so beautiful and livable.  Hope you can find a buyer.

Janie, this is one of the best presentations I've seen of a listing on Active Rain.  Great house!

I think it's cool you did the post to get Buyer's..i.e. not your listing.

What product did you use to create the photo album effect on the youtube show? This is outstanding!

Hi Janie ~ That is such an inviting house! Loved the video. I'm still wrapping my head around the fact that 1899 is the earliest house - I didn't realize that would be the case. Liz

Hey Great presentation!  It looks like a home you'd find here in ASHEVILLE NC, not Coral Gables.  I used to be an agent there (with Kay Byrne - Byrne-Rinehart) and had an old house too on Prospect Drive built in 1921.  Love that charm!
